What Are YOU Reading Now?

At Figue Mediterranean (La Quinta) I am always looking for inspiration and new ideas and boy did I find a treasure trove in Yotam Ottolenghi’s book ‘Jerusalem’. What an amazing Chef! One day I would love to travel to London to eat at his place! Maybe next year!

  1. I was born in Jerusalem and in my opinion, the book doesn’t do much justice to the food or the scenery of the city. The recipes are more complicated than the original and the photos make you think it’s a neglected place with nothing but old and dirty markets. It’s really so far from what the city is all about. It is much more diverse and interesting than that…
By the way, I’m also a NECI graduate. 🙂

      • I agree that a chef’s recipes are usually more complicated, but here I felt it was missing the whole point.
But I’m glad yo liked it and got inspired by Israeli food. It is a very interesting mix of many cultures and the modern food scene is very vibrant. I visit once a year and if you ever decide to go, write me and I’ll give you some good recommendations. 🙂 I also recommend The Book of New Israeli Food by Janna Gur.
